WEPL Premier 1 2nd XI
Bridgwater 392-4 beat Warminster 96 by 296 runs
SUPERB centuries from Stuart Butt and Liam Kitch proved instrumental in securing Bridgwater 2nds that elusive win to be crowned champions.
Warminster won the toss and inserted Bridgwater on a good batting surface but the team lost Todd Barrett early on for 10 with the score on 30.
This brought Stuart Butt to the crease, joining left hander Liam Kitch, and the pair quickly got on top of the bowling with some brutal shot making, both reaching the boundary on a regular basis as the Warminster attack was put to the sword.
Both reached their fifties, and centuries, in good time, with the partnership broken when the score reached 330, with Kitch being caught for a superb 147.
Butt continued, supported by Andrew Skidmore (30) until he was dismissed shortly before the overs ran out for a fine 158, a class knock as Bridgwater finished on a daunting 392-4.
With the ball, Ian Higgins and Chris Singleton both bowled good opening spells but the introduction of Skidmore's off spin saw wickets tumble as he bowled a fine spell of 3-30.
There was also a wicket for Scott Clapp, however fellow off spinner Matt Habberfield proved unplayable with his slow bowling, picking up 3 wickets, and supported by two sharp run outs the title was secured as the home side were bowled out for 96.
Captain Scott Sealey said: “This was a superb achievement by a great set of lads who have played consistently well all summer.
“It has been a true team effort which has seen all team members delivering big performances that have contributed to the team's success throughout the season.”
