Milsom takes positives from Hungerford defeat

FANS of Bridgwater Town should still be full of optimism despite their opening day defeat to Hungerford Town – that is the message from manager Kevin Milsom in the wake of his side’s 2-1 loss at Fairfax Park on Saturday (August 18).
Ross MacNab’s first-half strike got the home side off to the perfect start in the season curtain-raiser, but goals from Hungerford’s Luke Hopper and a last-ditch winner from substitute Ben Pugh meant it was opening day heartbreak for Bridgwater.
They travel to Wimborne tonight (August 21) looking to put their first points on the board.
Milsom told the Mercury: “There are lots of positives to take from the game.
“We would have been flying if we’d converted our chances in the first-half; their only real quality came in the last ten minutes.
“We were cracking and the lads are so disappointed but it’s a great learning curve.”
Tonight’s opponents should prove another difficult test for Bridgwater, but Milsom says he believes in his team and sees no reason why they can’t leave victorious.
“I think we can go there and get three points,” he added. “If we take with us what we got out of the Hungerford game, there’s no reason we can’t win.
“The boys deserve it – they’ve been exemplary so far.”
