West Somerset League Division 2
Blagdon Hill 53-0 beat Over Stowey 52 by 10 wkts
A WEAKENED Over Stowey team were soundly beaten at title-chasing Blagdon Hill by 10 wickets.
Stowey lost the toss and were asked to bat first but had no answer to the pace of the Blagdon openers. Only Mark Sortwell (14no) and Jack Rich (18) hit double figures.
In reply, Blagdon took until the eighth over to score a run as opening bowlers Jack Rich and Michael Barrow bowled accurately but they scored the winning runs in the 20th over to complete a comfortable victory.
West Somerset League Division 5
Over Stowey 58-9 beat Hemyock 57 by 1 wkt
FOR the third week running, Stowey 2nds won a game in a nail-biting finish.
With the weather unsettled, sides agreed a 30-over match, Stowey won the toss and asked Hemyock to bat and managed to bowl them out for 57 in only 20 overs.
Carl Woodley was the pick of the attack with 3-18 and vice-captain Dave Rousell held on to three one-handed catches in a stirling fielding performance.
Stowey then struggled against very tight Hemyock bowler with Andy Clyst taking 2-14 in eight overs. But Lee Villis kept a calm head to top-score in the match with 24 to almost see Stowey home, leaving Carl Woodley (9no) to drag Stowey over the winning line.
