THE newly-formed karting league team Bridgwater Bandits competed together for the first time in Dorset.

The team made an excellent debut by taking two top-ten finishes, including a second place, in the 12 sprint races.

A very commendable performance was also seen form the team in the Race of Champions 15 lap 'dash for cash' with a £675 prize.

The team finished seventh in the ultra-competitive race but a mechanical problem brought a premature end to the team's first endurance race.

Two of the team members from our area that drove for the Bandits were Luke Chard-Maple, 23, of Bridgwater and Nigel Dix, 42, from Bridgwater.

Tony Stringer, Team Manager: “The Bandits have done very well for their first event. I'm sure we'll see a lot more from them in the next events but to be up in the top ten is a very good debut.”
