TRIBUTES were paid to retiring Chairman Gerald Jenkinson at the club’s annual meeting last Friday.

Club president Greg Dyke told members: “Gerald has led the management committee in his own laconic style for some years.

“The contribution he has made has been exceptional and we are grateful to him for all of his hard work.

“We are also grateful, of course, to Paula, his wife, for giving him the support he has had over the years.

“Fortunately Gerald has decided to remain on the management committee and will continue to help out in many ways.”

Earlier Dyke had spoken of the continued development the club’s youth structure which should see a steady stream of well-coached players pushing for senior places.

He said: “Last season’s Under-18 side have provided us with a rash of promising young players joining the ranks this coming winter, some of whom have already played for the senior teams.

“The established players will be looking over their shoulders at the challenge they provide.

“We are cautiously optimistic of challenging for honours this season.
