Taunton Town play their first game at Wordsworth Drive this season when they entertain Welsh Football League Division Two side Dinas Powys in a friendly tomorrow, kick-off 3pm.

The match will give home fans a first chance to see manager Leigh Robinson’s squad in action with a host of new signings likely to be on show as well as many of last season’s team.

Robinson has signed a quartet of players from Toolstation League Willand Rovers, namely striker Dean Stamp, midfielder Rob Norrish and defenders Ben Mammola and Dave Hambly.

Exciting winger Craig Herrod has also joined the Peacocks, along with centre half Neil Peek from Bridgwater Town, with other additions to the squad likely.

However the side still retain familiar faces to the home faithful including Rodney Marsh, Simon Ingram and Darren Rice.

One player who will be missed is talented centre back Chris McGrath who is one of 14 players to have put pen to paper at Bridgwater.

Taunton have so far enjoyed an encouraging pre-season campaign, winning 3-1 against St Martins, securing 2-0 victories at Bishop Sutton, Bishops Lydeard and Chard Town, and beating Peninsula League side Bovey Tracey 6-0 in their latest outing. James Blake headed home a TJ Lang cross to give Town the lead on 27 minutes.

Goals came in the second half from Craig Herrod after 48 and 84 minutes, Blake on 50 and Andy Butler after 70 and 79 minutes.

Robinson said: “We’ve played low key friendlies but it’s given me a good chance to assess the whole squad. I’ve been pleased with how things are progressing.”

Admission for Taunton’s home friendlies will be £3 for adults and £1 for children. However season ticket holders will be admitted for free.

The club have extended their discounted ticket offer until Saturday; adult season tickets can be bought for £90, senior citizens and students £55 and Under-18s £20, with prices then rising to £110, £65 and £25.
