Wembdon Academy 63-3 beat Huntspill & District 2nd XI 61 by 7 wkts
WITH rain in the air, Wembdon chose to bowl first. D. Morrish (1-24) opened but struggled with his first two overs in the wet conditions allowing Huntspill a good start.
Huntspill found themselves one down quickly as B. Puddy reacted well and ran out one of the openers. D. Buller (3-28) bowled very well to start with but was unlucky as he had two good chances dropped.
D. Morrish took his wicket from an offspin delivery which dipped on the batsmen. Huntspill had a good third wicket partnership of T. Garner (18) and J. Smith (18) but when K. Rawles (5-7) came on, he routed the middle and late order to leave Buller with two more wickets and skittle Huntspill for 61.
Wembdon looked set to try to finish things before tea with R. Weber and J. Rawles opening the batting. Weber hit the opening over for 10. Rawles (4) then smashed the first ball of the next over for four, but was bowled four balls later.
J Caswell (0) was in at three but soon out; L. Pigden (2) came in and did a fine job but was unlucky to be bowled off his pads.
B. Puddy (2no) then came to support Weber (41no) who, despite being dropped once, helped Wembdon reach their target in 11 overs.
