Burnham Cricket Club high hopes for second half of season Burnham Cricket Club high hopes for second half of season

BURNHAM Cricket Club have set their targets high with spokesman Andy Birkett challenging both senior teams to come out strong for the second half of the season.

The first team are fourth in Division 3 of the Somerset Shrubbery League while the second string sit third from bottom in Division 8S.

Birkett said: “The first team have the chance to not only get promoted but to top the table if they can put a few wins together.

“They are not far away from second place at the moment and should be able to get promoted this season.

“Although the second team lay third from bottom, they have only lost two but matches they should have won they managed to tie or have rained off.

“The more matches they have rained off the more difficult it makes it for them to get promoted but I am confident they will not be relegated.”
