THE Pro Celebrity Am at Brean saw more than 30 teams of four gathered with excitement to tackle the newly revised Brean layout which saw 4 new holes in play for the first time.

The winning team - who received the tom Childs Memorial Trophy - was sponsored by LC Joinery of Burnham and consisted of owner Les Clutterbuck, Phil Aspinall, Brean’s Captain elect Brian Read and Dave Porter.

They carded a steady score on their opening nine holes but the quartet really took a liking to the new holes as they accumulated 45 of their 84 points on the homeward journey.

Second place was taken by the Brean Seniors team who are usually never far from the winners circle in these type of events.

Captain Tony Roper was joined by Pete Douglas, Mike Allen and Dai Wood as they handed in an excellent 82 points.

Last year’s winners couldn’t quite match their previous efforts as the foursome of Dave Bradley, Tony Richards, Paul Jones & Chris Payne totalled 81 for third.
