North Petherton beat the inclement weather to win and move second in Division One of the Somerset Shrubbery cricket league.

Ian Hucker was the pick of the bowlers with 3-25 to skittle Belvedere for 107 before Oliver Irish hit a classy 41 to steer his team over the line for a four-wicket win.

Middlezoy were on the wrong side of their match with Temple Cloud. Zoy hit 112 with S Keith top scoring on 34 and in reply not even Nathan Barnard's 7-31 could give them victory as the visitors ran out two-wicket winners.

In Division Two, North Newton tied with Huish and Langport as both sides scored 155-9. Bertie Broughton hit 60 with Jack Sellick (39) and James White claimed a superb 6-34 in reply to help claim a share of the points.

Division Three side Bridgwater 'A' stormed to a six-wicket win after Mike Skidmore's five-wicket haul helped to skittle Horrington for 105. Kyran Devitt's unbeaten 44 in reply sealed the win.

Wembdon 2nds, of Division Four, sealed a commanding win over Staplegrove 2nds thanks to three wickets apiece from N Richards (3-32) and W Wiltshire (3-30) which helped to bowl the home side out for 135 chasing 196-7.

Half centuries from A Phillips (72) and G Lowe (59) ensured Wembdon posted the winning total.

Kilve's match at home to Frome was cancelled.

In Division Six, Bridgwater Sports crumbled to 63 all out chasing Huish and Langport 2nds total of 164. Only T Netto (29) and K Ingram (17) made double figures after B Winter (3-34) and P Winter (3-32) had good spells with the ball.

Division 8S saw Wembdon Wyverns beat Middlezoy 2nds in a close affair. Phil Morrish (44) top scored in Wembdon's 154 with G Purchase (3-37) and A Campbell (4-17) doing the damage for Middlezoy.

In reply, Zoy fell 27 runs short despite 30 from J Miles as T Fagan's incredible 7-35 routed the visitors.

Spaxton picked up a losing draw against Burnham after they closed on 135-8 chasing 168 to win. D Pople claimed 5-28 to help restrict the visitors and openers J Venton (27) and N Peek (22) got off to a good start before a collapse left the team holding on for a share of the points.

North Petherton 2nds match against South Petherton 2nds and Chilton Polden 1sts versus All Saints were cancelled.

In Division 9NW, Chilton Polden were dismissed for 119 chasing Belvedere A's 215-6. J Davis was the pick of the Chilton attack with 4-58 but a top order collapse in reply dented any chances of a win despite gritty knocks from D Saunders (32) and A Blewett (31) down the order.
