Ryan Penwill toils away in the heat for Kilve
MIDDLEZOY produced their second win in as many weeks to climb up to third in Division One of the Somerset Shrubbery cricket league.
Marc Troman (77 not out) and a scintillating 94 from Nathan Barnard helped Middlezoy to 221-3 before Barnard backed up his efforts with the ball to claim 4-53 along with Peacock (3-32) to bowl Kilmington and Stourton out for 217.
North Petherton also hit good form in their eight-wicket win over Watchet. Knight (3-29) took early scalps to help see Watchet crumble for 126.
In reply, Dan Tottle's unbeaten 59 with Lewis Irish jnr (31 not out) steadied the ship after two early wickets to complete the win.
In Division Two, North Newton picked up their third win of the season against Wells. North Newton hit 184-8, with A White top scoring on 47 and support from Mark Barham (25) and J Stone (20) but an incredible 6-39 from C Street helped to rout Wells for 178.
Bridgwater 'A' beat Huntspill and District by 21 runs in their Division Three match.
A superb 91 from Ben Coombes with support from Ali Hewson (50) and Kyran Devitt (39) helped Bridgwater posted a daunting 254-6.
Huntspill gave the run chase a good go but just fell short with Dan Rossiter (3-43), Ian Hewson (2-35) and Coombes (2-26) doing the damage with the ball.
In Division Four, Wembdon 2nds lost to Cheddar as they chased down 218-8 to face a five-wicket defeat.
P Curd top scored with 57 for Wembdon but their bowlers were unable to make inroads as Cheddar ran out comfortable winners.
Kilve also tasted defeat against Wellington 2nds as they were skittled for 107 chasing 184-8.
J Darrell (3-27) was the pick of the bowlers as Kilve restricted Wellington but early wickets dashed their hopes of the win, with E Martin (25) the only real contributor.
In Division Six, Bridgwater Sports suffered a hefty 230 run defeat against Lydford. M Winter (3-87) was the pick of a bowling attack that was taken to the sword on a hot day as Lydford posted 298-6.
In reply, B Winter (26) top scored by Sports crumbled to 68 all out.
Middlezoy 2nds moved top of Division 8S as they beat All Saints by three wickets. P Gray (3-31) was the pick of the bowlers as All Saints hit 219-8 but half centuries from G Purchase (54) and D Webb (63) ensured the run chase went smoothly.
Chilton Polden remained hot on Middlezoy's heels though as they beat Burnham. Chilton posted 215-4 thanks to a classy 83 not out from J Ball and good contributions from Steve Pinder (39) and James Hedges (37 not out).
Hedges (4-28) then tore through the Burnham line-up to dismiss the home side for 114.
Spaxton posted 140 against Taunton Deane Crusaders mainly due to A Fisher's 53 opening the batting. But three wickets apiece from G Meadows (3-28) and R Parish (3-14) ensured the win as Taunton crumbled to 97 all out.
In Division 9NW, Chilton Polden 2nds hit 256-9 with L Marshall (61 not out) top scoring and three wickets from J Short (3-17) helped to polish off Wedmore for 39 all out.
