Taunton Vale Hockey Club presentation evening

TAUNTON Vale Hockey Club held their end-of-season dinner and awards night at Somerset CCC with more than 150 club players and supporters in attendance including local MP Jeremy Browne.

The club had a fantastic 2011-12 season, with three out of the 10 senior teams obtaining promotion from their respective divisions and, of note, this includes the Ladies’ 1st XI who gained promotion to the National League for the coming year.

There was also great success at junior level with teams reaching the final stages of national competitions.

Awards were as follows: Men’s Players of the Year – M1 Josh Clarke, M2 David Gibson, M3 Mike Cleverly, M4 Joey Rose, M5 David Pearson. Ladies – L1 Sarah James, L2 Rachel Truman, L3 Claire Hancock, L4 Sharon Tregunna, L5 Lucie Cartwright. Best Colt – Matthew Richards; Most Improved Colt – Josh Clarke; Most Promising U18 Lady – Kate Reynolds; Most Improved Lady – Amy Morris; Men’s match winner – Harry Riste; Ladies’ match winner – Nicky Westworth.

Team of the Year – Ladies’ 3rds. Clubman of the Year (presented by Bronwen Webb, chairman) – Clare Hayes (runner-up Harry Lee). President’s Award (presented by Chris Hodgett, president) – Nick Hancock.
