Bridgwater College 39, Richard Huish College 70 AFTER a 20-0 battering in the Somerset Colleges tournament to Richard Huish first team, Bridgwater wanted to make sure their opponents didn’t do the same again.
Bridgwater were missing their starting point guard Matt Thomas which meant Adam Lewis (21 points) had to play out of position and cover for him. This didn’t faze Adam and he scored 11 points of his own in the quarter, including two three pointers to keep the score line close, ending the quarter 15-19.
At half time the score read 23-36 but Bridgwater won the third quarter 12-10 to leave the scores at 35-46.
Huish ran away for the win in the last quarter, though. Other point scorers were Adam Niedzwiedz (8), James Curtis (6), Miles Howell (4).
Men’s Football Bridgwater College 5, Coleg Sir Gar 1 A RESOUNDING 5-1 win saw Bridgwater College coast to three points against Welsh college Coleg Sir Gar.
Matt Hurley smashed home a thunderous 25-yard left-footed strike following good work from Ollie Chamberlain into put Bridgwater ahead.
Josh White extended Bridgwater’s lead five minutes before half-time with a simple tap-in after Matt Redman headed down from an Ollie Chamberlain corner in a well worked set piece.
Louis Garner made it 3-0 after he chested down Tom Hurley’s pass before swivelling a left-footed volley over the dumbstruck goalkeeper.
Tom Holder then scored on debut from two yards after Tom Hurley beat three defenders on the left hand side to deliver a teasing cross into the Coleg Sir Gar box.
Captain White ensured an emphatic win was complete as he ghosted in to meet a Luke Taylor pin point corner and head past the flailing Coleg Sir Gar keeper.
Bridgwater College 1, South Devon 0 A TOM Hurley penalty after 35 minutes continued Bridgwater College’s march towards the South West College Elite League title.
