CLUB vice-captain Martin Selby and Neil Carthew moved into the last eight of the men's Winter Foursomes at Tiverton after knocking out Dominic Bristow and Neil Megarry in the second round.

The quarter-final line-up is now complete, with Selby and Carthew set to take on Andy Brice and Richard Colman.

Rob Hagley and Peter Pickard will meet Mark Dakin and Chem Austin, Nick Lear and Steve Lucas will face Kim Garnsworthy and Pete Guest while Rhys and Ricky Cruse will do battle with Andy Bolt and Derek Cruwys.

Second round results: Top half – Rob Hagley and Peter Pickard beat Mark Woodman and Tim Durrant; Mark Dakin and Chem Austin beat Tony Allsopp and James Lambden; Nick Lear and Steve Lucas beat Peter Anthony and Gary Snowdon; Kim Garnsworthy and Pete Guest beat Gary Tucker and Mark Randell.

Bottom half – Rhys Cruse and Ricky Cruse beat Ian Gunn and Adrian Tyrrell; Andy Bolt and Derek Cruwys beat Darren Lowman and Stephen Jack; Martin Selby and Neil Carthew beat Dominic Bristow and Neil Megarry; Andy Brice and Richard Colman beat Martin Taggart and Mike Chorley.

Club captain Peter Garnsworthy won 74 golf balls after being the only player to record a two in the four-man team event on Saturday, chipping in for a birdie on the 14th.

The competition was won by Paul Bowler, Mark Sangster, Mike Cottrell and Russell Jarman with 80 stableford points.

Andy Hill, Paul Mitchell, Mark Reeves and Peter Boax (79) claimed second place ahead of Bill Tobin, Steve Hayes, David Jack and Mark Davitt (78).

Marian Stevens and Chris Williams carded 22 stableford points to win the ladies' 11-hole greensomes competition.

Ivy Radford and Maggie Knowlman (21) took second place ahead of Kathryn Hall and Rosemary Venner (19), Julia Cole and Jean Granger (19) and Kay Leach and Chris Norton (16).
