MARK Todd, winner of the 2011 Mitsubishi Badminton Horse Trials, heads the entries at the Griffin Nuumed Pontispool Horse Trials which take place from today until Sunday.

The New Zealander, who returned to eventing in 2008 after initially retiring in 2000 following the Sydney Olympics, is one of the most celebrated event riders the world has known and counts two Olympic gold medals and four wins at Badminton among his wins.

Following his initial retirement he was voted the FEI Horsman of the Century.

Organiser Richard Mitford-Slade said: “We’re delighted Mark Todd will be riding at the event. He is, without a doubt, one of the finest horsemen riding today and it will be a real treat for local equestrian fans to see him in action.

“We are also thrilled that Mary King will be riding too after her one-two in the Rolex Kentucky three-day event recently.

“We have an entry of about 750 which is very good and means its going to be a busy three days.”

Entrance is £10 per car (£5 single occupant) and all gate money will be donated to Shelter Box. Gates will open to spectators at 10am.
