Taunton Deane Swimming Club members Victoria Rayson, Libby Mitchell and Abi Abrahams all swam at the Commonwealth Games trials for England at the British Championships.

Tom Litten, a former club member and local Taunton boy, of Millfield School, was also at the event.

Vicky who has been travelling Europe this year with the England Development Squad showed her class despite having been injured for six weeks reaching the final of both the 100 and 50 back where although she swam very well she was undoubtedly hampered by the niggle that prevented her from swimming on her back completely in the weeks leading up to the event.

Libby exceeded expectations swimming very strongly in the 100 fly to make the semi final and also make the top 20 in the 200 fly after improving upon her WISE swim by some 6 seconds.

Abi continued her great form as she demolished her best 400 Free time to swim a 4.27 and set a best time in the 50 free, 100 fly and 200 fly, the first time she has really made the leap up at this level just finishing outside the top 20 females in Britain for the 200 fly.

TAUNTON Deane are celebrating the addition of Libby Mitchell to Team England for the home nations international against Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

Libby travelled to Glasgow to represent England at the top schools event and represent her home country.

She swam the 100 and 200 FLY securing points and medals in both events as England continued their total dominance of the event.

This is the second successive year the Richard Huish pupil and a member of their swimming academy run in partnership with the club have celebrated such success on the international swimming scene.

WELLINGTON Swimming Club were represented at their first ever Level 1 meet by ten swimmers, the event was held at Millfield School on April 17-18.

All the ten swimmers from the club swam exceptionally well, especially as this was their first experience of competitions in a 50 metre pool.

Between them they swam 70 races and achieved 31 personal bests, and six of them came away with medals. Becky Lucas and Ellie Lucas both won silver medals, and Jamie Vickery, Huw Williams, Will Barber, and Chloe Brown all won bronze medals.
