RICHARD Huish sports students are celebrating after returning from the British Colleges Sport National Championships at Loughborough.
A gold medal was won by Damien Fieldhouse as a member of the men’s South-West trampolining team; silver medals were won by Alex Wiltshire and Jon Sykes as members of the South-west cross-country team, and by the men’s hockey team (pictured), and bronze by Sarah Bebbington as part of the South West women’s rugby team. Missing out on medals, but with some excellent performances were men’s double badminton – Greg Cornelius and Josh Tunstall; cross country runner Leighanna Chappell; swimmers Libby Mitchell and Becky Bennett; golfer Abbie Moyes; tennis players Ben Elliott and Harrie Potter and squash player, Jonny Taubert.
A further Huish student was present at the Championships, Rachel Keitch who was selected to take on the role of student ambassador.
