BARLEYCELONA Blues have been thrown out of the Keyline Taunton and District League’s Mike Whitehead Cup.

The Wellington based club had reached the final but were withdrawn after they were found guilty of falsifying a match result earlier in the competition.

It means Cotford Sinats have been reinstated and were due to take on Pegasus – originally beaten by Barleycelona in the last – in last night’s (Wednesday) semi-final. Top Guns are already through to the final.

Meanwhile, Westford Rangers remain on course for the Division One title after being awarded the points from Sunday’s match against Spartans, who were unable to raise a side.

Last Wednesday, gaos from Dean Yarde and Lee Hellier gave Westford a 2-1 victory over lowly Gardeners.

Bathpool remain top, a point clear of Westford having played two games more, after a fine 8-3 victory over Tone Youth at the weekend. James Weaver hit four of the goals in what was Bathpool’s fifth straight victory.

PQR’s title hopes suffered a huge blow last Wednesday, as they went down 4-1 at Tone Youth.

PQR were due to face Westford last night (Wednesday) in a match which could have a major influence on the title. North Curry beat bottom-of-the-table Gardeners 5-1 on Sunday.

Holway secured promotion from Division Two after beating Creech 4-3 on Sunday with goals from Matt Blee, Senna Clapp, Neil Hobbs and Dan Lewis. Mike Burley and Kieran Wyatt (2) replied for Creech.

Division Three champions Top Guns were held to a suprise 3-3 draw by Somerset Inn, while The Grove beat runners up Cotford 5-1.

Churchinford are Division Three champions after a 6-2 win at Eagle Tavern.
