MINEHEAD player-manager Steve Perkins could be forced to play himself in goal for their Toolstation League Division One match at Cadbury Heath on Saturday.

The Blues could be without no less than are without no less than nine first team squad members, including keeper Chris Meredith.

Perkins, himself, is also carrying an injury and has been advised no to play but the player shortage looks like forcing him into action.

Luke Taylor, Meredith, Simon Lock, Brian Hall, Dave Sowden, Kevin Ackland, Steffan Phillips and Steve Arnold are all out for a variety of reasons including suspension and injury.

Young striker Andrew Gubb is also doubtful due to illness.

The crisis comes at a frustrating time for Perkins whose side had been on a good run of form before last Saturday's disappointing 4-0 defeat away to lowly Clyst Rovers (see page 143).

Next Tuesday (March 28), the Blues travel to play Shepton Mallet in the league (7.30pm kick off).
