Errea Somerset County League Premier Division: Bishops Lydeard 2, Paulton Rovers Res 1.
BISHOPS Lydeard secured their fourth straight league victory with a narrow win at home to Paulton Rovers Reserves on Saturday.
The hosts, without a game since December 12, were not at their best but did enough to see off the lowly visitors.
Dale Webber went close twice before Lydeard took the lead on 20 minutes. Dom Rowe’s cross was controlled in the box by Trevor Jenkins, who was brought down. Matt Fowler’s spot kick was saved but he followed up to score.
The lead was doubled ten minutes later when Gav Stepp’s fine cross was fired home first time by Webber.
But Paulton kept battling and pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time, direct from a free-kick.
The second-half was a tight affair, but Luke Desave had the chance to make the game safe but missed from close range.
Paulton were always in the game and came within a whisker of claiming a point, only to be denied by an excellent double save from man of the match Russell Jones.

Lydeard travel to play local rivals and league leaders Watchet Town on Saturday (2pm).
BISHOPS Lydeard have given local rivals Blackbrook seven days notice of approach for goalkeeper Wayne Lawrence. Lydeard have recently lost keeper Nathan Whatley to Wellington.
