MEMBERS of Taunton Angling headed for the River Huntspill last weekend to compete against Bridgwater AA in their latest interclub match.

Many Taunton anglers had a good day finishing high on the leader board but Bridgwater's Tony Goodland took top honours catching lots of fish on the pole.

Results: 1 Tony Goodland 9kg 700; 2 Chris Parr 8kg 900; 3 J. Andrews 6kg 700.Section A: K. Williams 4kg 200; Section B: A. Forward 3kg 500; Section C: D. Nash 6kg 500.

n LATEST performance news from the Wessex Water Fisheries: Clatworthy Reservoir – fish caught 230, rod average 2.5.

Ranger Dave Pursey said: “Clatworthy fished well again this week. Most fish are coming from mid water, on Buzzers and Nymphs.

“Boat fishing in the deep water near the dam produced some good results, but the fish were well down.

“Best rainbow weighed in at 4lb 2oz. The best bag limit weighed 14lb caught by Mr Ramey.”

Hawkridge – fish caught 78, rod average 1.7.

C. Allen had the best bag of the week weighing 10lb 12oz. A. Mercer had the best fish of the week weighing 3lb 8oz.

Fish being caught on Cats Whisker, Whiskey Fly, Hoppers and Damsels.

Sutton Bingham – fish caught 81, rod average 1.1.

The fishing was slow again this week for most of the visitors except for Mr Holdsworth. He managed two bag limits, the heaviest weighing 13lb 2oz and his best fish was 4lb 2oz. He fished with Olive Buzzers almost static. By walking around the banks he found pockets of fish here and there to be successful.

Senior ranger Ivan Tinsley said: “The water temperature has dropped a little but needs to come down some more before the fish really start to feed properly.”
