WATCHET are thorugh to the fifth round of the Turnbull Cup after winning 84-73 in a tight match away to local rivals Williton on Friday, when the rinks were shared.
Watchet now entertain Taunton in the next round tomorrow (Friday).

On Sunday Watchet took five sets of triples to Bridgwater BCL for a friendly, when they only lost on two of the five rinks but overall by 22 shots, 93-71.

TAUNTON A pulled off a useful away win (8-4) against Williton in the West Somerset League.

Taunton Ladies won 72-65 away to North Petherton in a game of fluctuating scoring.

In a mixed friendly match played at home, Taunton were too strong on the day, beating Honiton 99-49.

MINEHEAD were knocked out of the Turnbull Cup by a strong Taunton side at Vivary Park, losing on all four rinks and by 47 shots to 97.

In the Somerset County League Premier Two, Minehead came away from Bloomfield with nothing to show for their travels, losing by 69 shots to 40.

To complete a dismal weekend for the mens teams, Minehead B also lost in the County League, going down 61-49 away to Wellington B in South-West Two and picking up just two points.

In the West Somerset League Division One, Minehead pulled off a win at home against BCL by 69 shots to 44.

WILLITON had a succession of home games last week, starting with the visit of Taunton Deane on Tuesday. The rinks shared but the visitors won by 12 shots, 73-61.
Scores: E. Fisher, J. Thorne and P. Gliddon won 21-7; S. Lewis, R. Every and C. Thorne lost 12-18; D. Court, T. Lewis and C. Beaver won 19-13; Dave Sully, S. Every and D. Lea lost 9-35.
In the West Somerset League on Thursday the visitors were Taunton A, who emerged as the victors by one shot, 46-45, although they only won on one rink.
Scores: L. Burston, C. Thorne and R. Amery lost 14-27; P. Gliddon, R. Mitchell and D. Sully won 15-11; J. Jay, D. Donald and A. Sully won 16-8.
Friday saw the visit of Watchet in the Turnbull Cup, the rinks being shared but the visitors winning by 11 shots, 84-73.
On Saturday in the County League, Yeovil B were the visitors and went away with all the points as they beat Williton by 23 shots, 66-43.
Scores: S. Huggett, H. Poole, D. Donald and A. Sully lost 16-23; C. Penner, R. Every, R. Mitchell and D. Sully lost 15-21; L. Burston, E. Fisher, C. Thorne and R. Amery lost 12-22.
On Sunday Williton were hosts to Combe Martin, winning only one rink and losing overall by 19 shots, 51-70.

TAUNTON Deane ladies lost out 60-51 to to Wellington in a friendly match.
Deane skips: D. Routlet 26-9, J. Quick 15-22, J. Hocking 10-29.
Deane Ladies defeated Minehead 38-26 in the South and West Somerset League and claimed six points.
Deane skips: Home – D. Routley 20-15, Away – J. Quick 18 - 11.
WELLINGTON Bowling Club are in need of new members and will be staging a recruitment week from monday (July 13).
Members of the public are invited to attend the club any evening (excluding the weekend) between 6.30pm and 8.30pm to try their hand at bowls.
The club provide equipment but that people attending wear flat sole shoes or trainers. There are no costs involved.
Those people who are interested will be invited to participate in a further trial period of six weeks when they can further their bowls experience by playing on Tuesdays of each week supported by our qualified coaches and members of the club.
The club is situated next to the Sports Centre and a warm welcome awaits all who attend.
