THERE was a major shock in last week’s Bridgwater and District Men’s Darts League Age Group Singles first rounds as the Blake Riversiders’ Tom Gill came through on a board in the 55 and over category, with several more fancied players on.

Gill’s board included three players that had previously won league singles competitions.

Elsewhere in the 55 and over competition, Brian Bacon of the Prince of Wales won on the Hope Inn board and Flag’s Dave Taylor took the Crown board despite Withy Lions’ Paul Lynch and Railway’s Alan Western both scoring 180s.

Railway B’s Steve Loaring completes the semi-final line-up as he won the Squib board.

At the other end of the age scale, Hope Inn have two players through to the 35 and under semis.

Jason Blackmore came through at the Sydenham Centre, with Wanderers’ Steve Foster and Shaun Watts of The Three Lions hitting a 180 and Mark Burgess of the Sportsman having a 117 out.

Mark Watts won at the Malt Shovel, where he hit a 152 away and a 180 as part of a 13-darter, while Squib’s Matt Prosser threw a 130 out as he took the other semi-final place.

In the middle age band, Adam Ward of The Jokers and Squib’s Tony ‘Chubby’ Cooper came through on the board of death at the Railway Club, which included several top names. Shaun Elsley hit a 180.

On the other board it was Division Two that dominated as the Buccaneers’ Kalib Bowers and The Spectres’ Monty Brooker took the two qualification spots despite a Mark Prosser 180.

On Wednesday night the four-a-side Team KO finals were played at The Squib, with only six of the eight finalists fielding teams.

The Hope Inn came out on top after receiving a bye in the quarter-finals.

They beat The Squib (2) 6-0 in the semis and the OVH Wanderers 4-3 in the final.

The three-a-side Team KO finals will be played on Tuesday, April 21 at the Blake Arms.

Teams must have all three players there by 8.20pm for an 8.30pm start or they will be disqualified.

The finalists are OVH Wanderers (1), Sportsman (1), Malt Shovel (1), White Hart A (2), Prince Of Wales (1), British Flag (1), Hope Inn (1), Prince Of Wales (2).

The Champions Cup final will be played on Wednesday, April 22 at the Railway Club.
