Counties 1 Tribute Western West: Wiveliscombe 20-29 Penryn

Wiveliscombe managed to secure a vital bonus point for scoring four tries in this Western Counties West league match on the Wivey Rec but still dropped one place in the table. 

Winger Sam Habberfield opened the scoring for Wivey who played down the slope in the first half, Wivey increased their lead when Toby Tisshaw showed good pace to score in the bottom  corner. 10pts 0pts.

Centre James Salisbury opened the visitors account kicking a penalty after Wivey failed to release in the tackle , Salisbury would go on to score all of the visitors points apart from one try. 10pts 3pts.

Penryn closed the gap to 10pts 8pts with a try from left wing Tripconey finishing of a good threes move by the visitors. Salisbury added his second penalty soon after giving Penryn a 10pts 11pts lead. Scrum half Richard Baker scored a fine individual try to put the home team in the lead 15pts 11pts. 

James Salisbury scored the visitors second try to retake the lead for Penryn 15pts 16pts, Wiveliscombe's third try came from Paddy Holiday  just before half time. HT. 20pts 16pts.

Underfoot conditions deteriorated rapidly in the second half making open rugby a bit of a lottery although both teams tried their best to move the   ball when opportunities arose.

Wiveliscombe continued to compete well in most areas of the game and did well to limit the visitors to just one try in the second half scored by James Salisbury which he converted. 20pts 23pts. Salisbury completed the scoring in the game adding another two penalties to give the visitors the 20pts 29pts victory. 

Wiveliscombe drop one place to tenth position in the Western Counties West Division.
