National League South: Truro City 2-0 Taunton Town
TAUNTON Town are now deeper in a relegation battle after suffering defeat away from home against Truro City on Saturday (March 2) afternoon.
The match in the National League South was played in Gloucester due to the still unplayable pitch at Wordsworth Drive, but it was a home game for Truro City.
It ended 2-0 to the hosts as the Peacocks were wasteful with their chances.
Town were on the back foot after only six minutes when Truro grabbed the lead when Dan Lavercombe parried Tyler Harvey’s free kick and Tom Harrison slotted home the loose ball.
Taunton were unable to convert some strong chances in the second half and it cost them as Ed Palmer headed home from Will Dean’s corner to double the City lead after 62 minutes.
The Peacocks had a chance to get a foothold back in the game with twenty minutes remaining after Zac Smith had been tripped in the box, but Ross Stearn saw his penalty saved by James Hamon.
Truro comfortably saw out the remainder of the match to prolong Town’s dismal winless run.
