Counties 1 Tribute Western West: Wiveliscombe 7-25 Tiverton

WIVELISCOMBE produced a spirited performance against second in the table Tiverton although they were hampered by injuries sustained by players during Thursday's training and sickness on match day.

That said the rearranged team made Tiverton work for every point and led 7pts 5pts at half time playing down the slope.

Wiveliscombe's scrum was dominate early on but the home team struggled to construct any  meaningful attack with moves breaking down and it was the visitors who scored the first points with centre George Whiting finishing off a good threes move. 0pts 5pts.

The home teams defence worked hard and created a chance when Sam Habberfield  pounced on a loose ball to run twenty  metres and pass to Paddy Holyday who scored Wivey's only try of the game, Sam Habberfield converted. 7pts 5pts.

Chances came and went for both teams but the score remained the same at half time.

Playing down the slope in the second half Tiverton scored another three tries to secure the winning bonus point.

Wiveliscombe's injury problems worsened when their influential scrum half Richard Baker sustained a nasty facial injury when being tackled and left the game to receive stitches.

Wiveliscombe remain in ninth position in the  Western Counties West league while Tiverton in second position are pushing for promotion.
