Top two lose in tight Bluebell Division

CHAMPIONS and leaders Trumpeters lost by 16 at home to Legion Louts last week in the mixed Bluebell Division of the Bridgwater & District Summer Skittles League.

However, they remained two points clear, because second-placed The Snoots also lost, by one away to Globetrotters who are third with the Louts and Harvest Mixed. The Snoots have a game in hand on Trumpeters.

In the mixed Brunettes, Mixtures beat second-placed Shunters by 14 to go seven points clear with only three games left. However, Faux Pas have two matches outstanding and last week's result is not to hand, so they could move to within two points. The Clan are joint second thanks to Terry Innalls, who hit a four-spare 77 in their 28-pin defeat of Nam Nuts at the Blake Arms.

The mixed Primrose is still led by Mad Hatters, who beat Sagalouts at home. King's Head Inn went clear second after an away victory over Scoobies, as Jacks & Jills lost by two at Misfits. Champions Commercial A have to rely on others slipping up.

Barmies went three clear in the mixed Blondes after a 12-pin away victory over Good Bunch. The latter team dropped to joint third with the Choppers. who also lost by 14 at home to the new second-placed side Pin Pals. Rebellions, bottom two weeks ago, went fifth after their fourth successive win.

The two top teams met in the ladies' Champions, with Mo's Gems completing the double over Market Maids to go two points clear. Arf Dozen are a further two points away in third, while Poppy Girls dropped to fourth as they lost by 12 at home to Slippers Up, their first away victory.

Piglets remained top of the ladies' Pearls by beating bottom team Blake Belles, but are only a point clear of Spares, who won away to Rockets. Daff's Dollies lost by a last-hand two at Shove Overs and are three points behind.

Flopperettes lost their unbeaten record in the ladies' Emeralds, when home team Acorns beat them by three on the last hand, having left the leaders just 35 to win. However, two more victories will see them as champions, because second-placed Mothers Pride are nine points behind.

Now the only unbeaten team in the league are Cheeky Girls, leaders of the ladies' Diamonds, who won by 23 at home to Blue Jeans. Second, five points back, are champions Gremlins Girls, who beat Cross Rifles, while Slappers went third .

Ladies' Rubies' leaders Otters beat Geef Teeth and by 37 at home and need only three wins from their last five matches to win the. Pink Ladies had a one-pin home win over second-place Wicked Ladies, which allowed Generations to join them in second.

Gentle Giants have gone nine matches at the top of the men's Premier following a comfortable away win over Top Gun. Two points behind are Fireworks, 65-pin winners at Buccaneers and a further two back are Slades.

Riff Raff have Neil Fear (71) to thank for their 36-pin home win over Sir Gary Jones in the men's Early. They remained top, a point ahead of Folly Boys, who were 20 down after three hands away to Playboys, but pulled 22 on the last three. Outs & Ins are still in with a shout of retaining their title after winning at Dukes o'Hazard.

In the men's Main, Gamblers went three points clear when visitors Pawlett Pins, left 42 to win, held them to the division's first tie of the season. Floppers remained second, although they lost by four to hosts Carol's Barmy Army, for whom Liam Rainey hit a 15 in their last hand of 56.
