Darlington takes a catch worthy of TV

Somerset League Div Four SW: Peasedown (19) 145 v Chilton Polden (22), match abandoned POLDEN Seconds came off slightly better in this rain-affected game after home side Peasedown had elected to bat on a soft, but good-looking strip.

They made a steady start through openers Eddie Jones and Tom White until White was bowled by Jason Kingston with the total on 23.

Clive Wilcox joined Jones and they added ten runs, but Jones (21) departed to a fantastic (worthy of TV) catch by Nathan Darlington off Kingston. Kingston struck again next ball, bowling Dan Edwards.

With Ben Edwards run out and N Darlington dismissing Phil Clark thanks to a smart catch by Matt Parker, Peasedown were in dire straits at 60-6. But Wilcox stood firm, scoring quite freely, as wickets fell at the other end.

At 87-9, the innings looked over, but the experienced Wilcox, joined by last man Wayne King, had other ideas. With King holding up one end, Wilcox punished the bowlers, pushing the score to 144 before he fell to N Darlington for a brilliant 84 (14 fours, 1 six).

Matt Parker (4-32 off 12 overs) and Jason Kingston (3-33 off 12) bowled good spells, well backed up by N Darlington (2-30). At tea, heavy rain fell.
