CLIVE Thorne won Division 1 of the Men’s Saturday Stableford Competition at Oake Manor, scoring 38 points.

Mark Mitchell came second with 37 points, Nigel Jackson was third also with 37 points and Paul Coleman fourth with 34 points.

Marc Holloway won Division 2 with 42 points, the best score of the day.

Ross Thomas was second with 37 points, Sam Loader was third with 36 points and Steve Barham was fourth also with 36 points.

The first three players in Division 3 all scored 35 points but on countback Gareth Morgan was first, Mick Cawley was second and Wayne Milton was third, Liam Willey was fourth with 34 points.

Antony Date was the clear winner of the Wednesday midweek Stableford competition scoring 42 points, five points clear of second placed Michael Bright who scored 37 points.

Simon Lambrechts was third, also with 37 points, and Joseph Holmes was third with 36 points.

JASON Brock won Oake Manor’s Andy Parker Trophy on Saturday, with an incredible score of gross 65 (nett 66) off his -1 handicap, to lead a field of 126 golfers.

Brock was four shots clear of second-placed Simon Rudd (nett 70), with Christopher Rudd third in Division 1 and Phil Coggins fourth (both scoring nett 71).

Antony Keitch won Division 2 with nett 71, ahead of Jason Bailey (nett 72), Dave Culverwell (nett 73) and Patrick Goody (nett 75).

Keith Eggar won the Men’s Bank Holiday Stableford with an excellent score of 42 points.

Nick Putt was second in Division 1, also with 42 points, Matthew Forknall third with 39 and John Greenslade fourth with 37.

Past club captain Richard Clist won Division 2 with 40 points, David Franks was second with 37, Gary Jewell third with 36 and Steven Pinn fourth, also with 36.

Steve Manlow won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford with 38 points; Mark Tydings was second with 37, Mike Shaw third, also with 37, and Matthew Forknall fourth with 36.

Ladies’ captain Ros Shepherd claimed the Ladies Silver Street Motors Trophy on Sunday with 32 points.

Janet Howe was second with 31 points, Rachel Hughes third with 30 and Tamsin St George fourth with 27.

Bev King won the Ladies Tuesday Medal with a nett 70, Jane Clist was second in Division 1 with nett 72, Janet Howe third, also with nett 72, and Alison Harman fourth with nett 73.

Ginny Farnworth-Smith won Division 2 with nett 73, ahead of Pam Kinnear (nett 74), Judy McKellar (nett 78) and Liz How (nett 80).

TAUNTON & Pickeridge hosted the Grouse Foursomes on Saturday, at the end of which it was John Snell and Mike Crump (both former captains), who were the winners with a nett 69.

Second place was claimed by Chris Doyle and Russ Symons with nett 70.5, with Luke Whitear and Will Newnes third with 71.5.

On Tuesday, the Ladies’ Section took part in the Golf Foundation Brooch Medal.

In the Silver Division, it was former ladies captain Jacky Ford who was the winner with nett 73, three ahead of second-placed Heather Crump.

The Bronze Division was won by Jackie Pike with nett 70, six shots clear of second placed Jan Hill with 76, while Sue Walsh claimed third place with 77.

T&P Junior member Freddie Eglin was the winner of the George Small Cup an 18-hole qualifying event.

Two former T&P Juniors, Tom Sloman and Kobe Adams, are enjoying success

Sloman is looking almost certain to play in the Walker Cup in September at Royal Liverpool - an amazing achievement.

He has been announced in the Walker Cup squad and is currently the second highest ranked GB & Ireland amateur in the world - in 35th place.

Meanwhile, Adams has just won the County Colts Championship at Mendip GC in his final year in this age group and is looking to progress with representing Somerset regularly and competing at a national and international level, like Sloman.

ENMORE Park hosted their Ladies’ Spring Open on Wednesday when the wonderful weather and immaculate course attracted a field of 90 from across the south west.

The winners were three ladies from Henbury Golf Club and the runners-up with 82 from Long Ashton.

A raffle in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West raised in excess of £320.

The event was organised by a team of volunteers led by Jackie Woodman.
