ENMORE Park hosted their Ladies Spring Open on Wednesday when the wonderful weather and immaculate course attracted a field of 90 from across the south west.

Teams from as far afield as Monmouthshire and Budleigh Salterton as well as across the whole of Somerset and Avon took part in the three-ball Bowmaker competition, at the end of which there were lots of prizes including nearest pins and twos.

The winners with 85 points were three ladies from Henbury Golf Club, Bristol, and the runners-up with 82 points were from Long Ashton GC, Bristol.

A raffle in aid of the Childen's Hospice South West raised in excess of £320.

This hugely successful event was organised by a team of volunteers led by Jackie Woodman so a big thank you to them from everyone for everything they did.

Congratulations to the four juniors who represented Enmore Park at Wheathill Golf Club last week, Tom Canavan, Theo Culverhouse, Max Popham and Olivia Lake, who became the first girl to represent the team in six years.

Theo Culverhouse ended as runners up in Division One at Wheathill with 37 points.

Enmore Seniors’ busy golfing schedule continued with a home fixture against the seniors from Mendip Spring.

In beautiful conditions, Enmore put on a good display despite captain Steve Lukins being away on a Turkish golfing holiday!

The home team romped in convincing winners by six matches to two.

Stand-in captain Mike Sullivan, along with Tony Pomeroy, led the way with a fine 5&4 win; other winning pairs were Dave Pascoe/Jim McGuckin (2 up), Peter Robinson/Ray Lukeski (4&3), Doug Read/Ray Hancock (1 up), Chris Willsteed/Jim Potticary (2&1) and Norman Webb/Peter Sherry (1 up).

Just two days later, the Enmore senior squad travelled from the north Somerset coast to the English Channel coast to play the seniors of the Lyme Regis club.

In fine conditions the away team were holding their own until the final three pairings arrived at the club house, all with a reverse to report.

Thus the match was won by the home team by the narrowest of scores, 4.5-3.5.

Enmore’s winning pairs were captain of the day Mike Sullivan with Graham Pain (3&2), Jess Lawrence/Kelvin Tuthill (2&1) and Carl Netto/Dave Pascoe (3&2), while Dave Brown and Ray Lukeski halved their match.
