STAPLEGROVE Cricket Club hosted the first Somerset Cricket Board women’s softball festival of the summer on Sunday.
Teams from Ilton, Taunton Deane and Wiveliscombe, as well as the host club, took part – meaning more than 40 women were out playing cricket in the sunshine.
Ilton had a successful time at the festival, drawing with Staplegrove and beating Wiveliscombe.
The next softball festival will take place on Sunday, May 19, at Wembdon CC – Ilton are scheduled to play Taunton Deane and Taunton.

TAUNTON Deane are through to the next round of the ECB Women’s National T20 cup competition, after beating Topsham by 16 runs at the Convent Field.
Batting first, Deane scored 123-5 from their 20 overs, largely thanks to Carla Rose (30) and Hannah Hughes (29).
In reply Topsham were all out for 107, with the pick of the Deane bowlers being Amy Sloman (4-22) and Hughes (2-20).
The next round of the National T20 cup sees Deane travel to South Devon to take on Cornwood.
