YOUNG motocross rider Finley Evans, from Chard, is gunning for the British title this year after working his way up through the sport over the last five years.

Evans, now age 12, started racing at seven years old, first competing in local events and his first race win coming in 2015 at Little Silver Motocross Park near Exeter.

Since 2016 he has been competing in the British Youth Championship motocross series, which is the premier championship for young riders in the UK.

On a 65cc machine in 2017 he finished in third place in the series, was selected to represent Team GB at the World Junior Championships in Estonia and also the Under-21 Motocross of Nations, where all the best riders in Europe race each other in a team event; Evans helped Team GB finish in third place that year.

For 2018, he moved to a small wheel 85cc machine, finishing in fifth place in the British Youth Championship in his rookie year.

This year, after the first round, Evans leads the series and hopes to become British champion for 2019.
