ST Mary & St Peter Primary School, Ilton, had success at the County School Boccia finals in Taunton this month.

Boccia (pronounced ‘Bot-cha’) is an inclusive sport introduced in 1984 played by para and able-bodied athletes alike, and has gained popularity in recent years among school teams.

Players throw or kick a ball on to the court with the aim of getting closest to a ‘jack’ ball.

The team from St Mary & St Peter’s competed against 17 other teams from schools across the county and were delighted to finish fourth overall.

Tim Baker, PE and sports lead for the Three Saints Federation, said: “We are really proud of how our children represented our school.

“They demonstrated teamwork and determination along with fantastic sportsmanship.”
