BRIDGWATER Town aim to keep their outside chance of securing a top four place alive, as they host ninth-placed Shepton Mallet tomorrow (ko 3pm).

The Robins sit three points off fourth-placed Plymouth Parkway in the Toolstation Western League Premier standings heading into the match at Fairfax Park, albeit Parkway have played two fewer games.

After a 2-0 win at Bridport last Saturday, Bridgwater are eight matches unbeaten, the last five of those being wins.

Bridgwater co-manager Dave Pearse said: “I think at times the lads lack a bit of belief, but the buzz is back now and it is in our hands where we end up.

“Shepton will be a tough game on Saturday – we hammered them 5-1 at their place so I’m sure they will be keen to put that right.

“We have a Les Phillips Cup quarter-final [at Calne] next Wednesday, so we might freshen things up on Saturday to give some different people minutes.”

Bridgwater Town Reserves are without a match until March 9, having drawn both of their last two games 2-2.

Two goals from Josh Champion allowed Bridgwater to take a point from last Saturday's match at Hengrove Athletic Reserves, and they then shared four goals with Keynsham Town Reserves on Wednesday night.

The visitors shot into a 2-0 lead in the first half, but two goals in two minutes after the break – from Champion and Mike Duffy – rescued the home side.

It leaves Bridgwater one point behind Somerset County League Division 1 leaders Mendip Broadwalk.
