Jupiter 36, Hovelands 52

JUPITER knew this would be a well-contested game and went out strongly.

Accurate shooting from Maddie Kennard (GS) and multiple turnovers from Lisa Lukins (GK) allowed Jupiter to pull ahead, ending the quarter 10-6, but at half-time it was 18-20 to Hovelands.

Going into the second half Alisha Gardener (WA) showed great movement but Hovelands stepped up their game, with both the opposing sides shooters now shooting with ease.

In the last quarter, Jupiter struggled to convert and Hovelands made multiple turnovers to see out the win.

Saturn 48, Tomahawks 55

SATURN took a while to settle, which allowed Tomahawks get a nine-goal lead in the first five minutes.

Saturn eventually got a grip on the game and started to pass the ball around with confidence, pulling back some of the deficit (11-16).

Great movement by Maddie Kennard (GS) in the circle enabled Saturn to stay in contention at 22-29.

In the third quarter Saturn upped their game and started to claw back the scoreline.

Great drives by Julie McClean (C) to the circle edge and strong feeding by Ellie Schofield (WA) into the shooters enabled Saturn to close the gap to four.

In the final quarter, Saturn struggled to build on the momentum of the third quarter.

Tips and interceptions by Abbie Newton (GK) helped them keep in touch but Tomahawks got through.

Mars 61, Brendon 28

HAVING won the previous Brendon game, Mars were full of hope for another win.

Mars’ shooters, Rebecca Kennard and Sharon Ethridge, scored 13 goals to Brendon’s two in the first quarter.

Centre Sophie Atyeo continued with her fast-paced interventions and Georgia Howe fought hard to bring the ball to the shooting circle with Hazel Hucker continually driving the ball into the shooters.

Mars were able to score 16 and 18 goals in the second and third quarters with Hucker also using her skills in the GA position.

The last quarter saw tiredness creep in a little and ended level, but Mars were comfortable winners.

Knights 50, Gems 34

SYDENHAM Gems travelled to Street to face Tor Knights on Sunday.

The match was well contested, with Gems upping their game in the second half.

Gems played to their strengths throughout and used their player versatility to play different combos and set plays, but ultimately lost out 50-34.

Bishops 35, Sapphires 23

DESPITE high levels of pressure from Sue (GK) and Carly (GD), the strong Wells side took an early lead.

Great attacking work from Mikki Hole (C) and Katie Hill (WA) brought the ball to shooters Michelle (GS) and Tanisha (GA), who continued to work hard to score.

Despite hard work, Sapphires were defeated.

Rubies 37, Spears 58

RUBIES started off slowly and Spears pressed ahead to end the first quarter 13-4 up.

The Sydenham team responded with more energy and fought hard to bring the ball up the court (31-15).

Rubies won the third quarter to narrow the gap (43-28).

After more positional changes, Spears pushed on in the final quarter.

Emeralds 13, Queensway 58

EMERALDS fought hard against Galmington Queensway, a very strong team.

The first quarter finished 16-1 and it was 29-6 at half-time.

Emeralds had some good interceptions and turnovers and continued to battle hard to the end.
