BRIDGWATER Town player-manager Dave Pearse was full of praise for man of the match Jake Llewellyn after Friday night’s 3-2 win over Clevedon Town.
Llewellyn set up two of the Robins’ three goals and was a constant threat down the left flank.
Pearse said: “Jake was outstanding. He has been playing left wing all season but he is a left-back, and a performance like tonight showed why.
“He was outstanding for the whole game and it has been a long time coming for him.
“When he does turn it on like that it shows why he should be playing at a higher level – we are very lucky to have him.”
Pearse also hailed the club's supporters after a bumper Friday night crowd of 364 came through the gate - the fifth highest attendance at Step 5 nationwide over the weekend.
"It is a fantastic attendance," he said.
"We have gone up 30% on last season and we are averaging about 240.
"We looked at the Southern League the other day and a lot of them were only about 100.
"It is a massive club at this level and a growing town. Hopefully we can keep it going."
On Saturday, Bridgwater travel to Dorset to take on Bridport.
The hosts are 13th and Pearse is expecting a challenging assignment for his side.
“Bridport are tough and physical. They are down there [in the table] but shouldn’t be – they have good players.
“But we are seven unbeaten now, so we should take confidence from our run and be confident of coming away with a result.”
n BRIDGWATER Town Reserves return to action on Saturday with a trip to Hengrove Athletic Reserves on Saturday.
Mendip Broadwalk drew level with the Robins at the top by winning at the weekend, but Town have a game in hand.
