Bridgwater Saturn 51, Sharks 38

SATURN needed to mop dry the sports hall floor before facing Sharks with a new line-up.

With great defence from Lisa Lukins (GD) and Sally Haysham (WD) Saturn put pressure on Sharks, however a start slow for Saturn resulted in the first quarter ending 14-14.

They had taken a 28-23 lead by half-time and went into the final quarter 36-30 after fine play from Sammie Griffin.

Excellent shooting from Maddy Kennard (POM and OPOM) allowed Saturn to convert their hard work into goals so Saturn enjoyed a deserved victory.

Venus 34, Walton Blacks 48

DESPITE Walton starting with only six players, they restricted the movement of Izzy and Alicia at GA and GS, forcing both to shoot from the edge of the circle.

The strong shooters of Walton proved to Venus that every round had to be fought for - keeping Ashlea ,GK and Jazz, GD on their toes and vying for airspace!

A few tactical changes had Jazz, OPOM, marking the GA on Walton’s centre passes, WD Tiff also picked up on the regular play of long balls heading straight to the GS and Venus won the second quarter by two goals ending the quarter nine behind.

It was the same margin going into the final quarter but Venus failed to make inroads into the lead, despite POM Cerys securing numerous flying interceptions, keeping possession with the Blues.

Sapphires 40, Newton 60

DESPITE the high levels of pressure from Sue (GK) and Emily (GD) and multiple interceptions it didn’t stop the strong opposition from taking an early lead.
