South West Women’s League
Premier Division
Forest Green Rovers 1, Ilminster Town Ladies 5

SUNDAY’s weather certainly played its part in this game, with high winds causing havoc.

Abbi Bond returned for Ilminster, with Charlotte Johnson playing outfield.

Playing into the strong wind for the first half, Ilminster went a goal down after 15 minutes.

But they were in the 23rd minute, Maisie Parker’s free-kick causing panic in home defence and Tia Shoemark heading home.

It was 1-1 at half time, but Ilminster could go more direct after the break, with the wind behind them.

Maisie Parker made it 2-1 in the 56th minute, capitalising on a mistake, and after a good Bond save, her kick upfield found Charlotte Johnson, who played a perfect pass for Colette Martin to slot home on 66 minutes.

Charlotte Johnson got her goal on 76 minutes to put Ilminster 4-1 ahead and, in the final minute, added another to cap a fine victory.

The match saw the return of an injured player, Sammie Knight.

Knight broke her leg playing away to Charlestown in April and came on for the final 10 minutes.

She was awarded player of the match for her great character and determination.
