TRY TIME: Josh Stuckey sets up North Petherton Under-13s' third try

Gordano U13s 40, North Petherton U13s 15

DESPITE two disallowed tries, North Petherton Under-13s started 2019 with their best performance of the season during a very competitive match played in a great spirit by both sides.

The Pethy boys started strongly, denying Gordano possession with a great early display of offloading.

They fought hard for everything, with vociferous play at the breakdown, and it was from a ruck that Pethy’s man of the match Ben Giles found Cameron Palk to run the ball in from halfway.

Gordano hit back with a try of their own, before Thomas Gilmartin crossed for Pethy only to see it chalked off.

The hosts took the lead with two tries, and although Palk scored another for Pethy, he had to come off injured.

Having led 20-10 at half-time, Gordano came out firing and scored four tries.

Nathan Golding crashed over at the other end but was adjudged to be held up, but the Mighty Oaks were not to be denied and Corey Cole ran in from distance.

Despite the defeat, the performance was key for the visitors and it needs to be at that level for their next game versus Weston Hornets at Beggars Brook on Sunday.
