THERE was no match for Burnham United’s 1st XI last Saturday, but Burnham Reserves ended 2018 on a high by beating Banwell 2-1.
Benny Windram and Mike Stevens scored the goals to take Burnham up to eighth in the Somerset County League Division 3 table.
Tomorrow they go to ninth-placed Somerton Town Reserves, while Burnham United firsts, 14th in Division 1, go to 13th-placed Staplegrove (both ko 2pm).
Burnham are one of three teams on seven points, so will be looking for a positive result in Taunton to claw themselves away from the dropzone.
In the Weston-super-Mare & District League, Wedmore host St George Easton in Gordano in Division 1, while in Division 3 Burnham United A welcome Hutton Reserves to Cassis Close (both ko 2pm).
In the Vardon Cup for Division 4 teams, Huntspill Crowns go to Clevedon United A, and Wedmore Reserves are at Hutton A (both ko 1.45pm).
On Sunday, Burnham United Ladies face a tough test away to Somerset County Women’s League Division 1 leaders Frome (ko 2pm).
Isle of Wedmore Ladies, meanwhile, visit bottom side Hamilton in Division 2.
And in the South Division of the Somerset Under-18 League, Burnham United visit top-half rivals Wembdon on Sunday (ko 2pm).
