A TRIO of Running Forever athletes took part in the Selworthy Stargazer 10k at the end of last month.

Jo Carritt was first female in 51.19, with Heather Pearce second in 55.32; Lee Macklin finished in 1.08.

Peter Stretton headed for Burnham and the Jingle Bell Run, finishing in 33.50, while Morwenna Duncan was in Ottery St Mary for the Jolly Running Extremely Jolly run.

This weekend’s parkrun tourists went to Forest of Dean, Eastleigh, Minehead and Burnham, where Claire Allison and Val Perigo completed the festive parkrun challenge of spelling out BAH HUMBUG with their initial letters of their runs.

Thirty-one took part in the festive Longrun Meadow event, with Louise Mills completing her 100th parkrun and Ali Bisatt recording a festive PB.

Finally, more than 100 members took to the streets for the annual Tinsel Run – the club’s last organised run of the year.

The nine groups completed their own routes before meeting at the Christmas tree outside The Market House, Fore Street.

FOURTEEN Hydro Harriers completed last week’s hotly-disputed Annual Great Gate Race, with Rowland Lyons first back, in 47.22 – over five minutes under his handicap.

Tom Mellow was the quickest around the 5.4-mile course, recording 34.39, with Colin Shepherd (45:52) back at the exact target time of 13.15.

Andy White was again the club’s quickest Parkrunner, finishing Exmouth in 20.42.

Rowland Lyons, benefitting from a high-mileage week, ran a comfortable 24.31 at Valentine’s (Ilford).

Ian Salter braved a treacherous Longrun Meadow, in 21.10, with Andrew Phelps doing Burnham in 28.09.

TAUNTON Athletics Club members were in their festive finery at the Christmas Day Parkrun at Longrun Meadow, which attracted 413 participants.

Taunton AC’s Joe Ponter finished first in 16.43 (a new PB), while club-mate Hannah Taunton was the fastest female runner (18.29).
