TAUNTON Town are refreshed and raring to go, as they head into a “massive” month that could prove decisive in the Evo-Stik Southern League play-off chase.

The Peacocks sit at the top of the Premier Division South standings, after last Wednesday’s dramatic 4-3 win over Salisbury.

Last weekend’s scheduled fixture with Beaconsfield Town was called off due to a waterlogged pitch at the Viridor Stadium, but the 10-day break should set Taunton up nicely for tomorrow’s home game against Harrow Borough (ko 3pm).

Head of football Rob Dray told the County Gazette: “We had three or four injury issues [from the Salisbury game], and this break has given us the chance to clear those up and allowed us to train.

“It can be difficult to do training with so many games and a squad that stretches from Bristol to Plymouth.

“It’s also allowed [new coach] Steve Perkins to start working on what I’ve asked him to do; we’ve got some good stuff done this week.

“Our reputation is growing in the league, and it’s about small margins now, as teams get a good look at us and we look at other teams.”

Dray is confident that the pitch will be ship-shape for Saturday, and the same goes for his squad.

Captain Matt Wright has recovered from the knock that saw him come off against Salisbury, though Pierce Mitchell is a doubt.

Midfielder Douglas Camilo has returned from Brazil, and trained during the week.

Tomorrow’s visitors to the Viridor Stadium, Harrow, have won their last five games and sit sixth in the league table, so Dray will not be taking a home win for granted.

“It’s the start of a crucial month for us,” he said.

“Harrow are a good side, we’ve had good reports on them, but we’ve just got to prepare well and do what we’ve been doing.

“We need to keep our momentum going and keep ticking the games off.

“It’s a massive month... no-one said at the start of the season that Taunton would be top by five points after 17 games, but our players have the belief, desire and hunger to grind the results out.”

WHO are tomorrow's opponents, Harrow Borough?

Formed in 1933 under the name Roxonian FC, the club bounced around the Spartan, Delphian and Athenian Leagues, becoming Harrow Town and then Harrow Borough.

They joined the Isthmian League in 1975 and enjoyed a golden spell in the ‘80s, reaching the FA Trophy semi-finals in 1983.

After Micky Tomkys retired as manager in 1985, their fortunes declined over the next couple of decades.

Current boss Steve Baker took over in 2015 and pulled off a ‘great escape’ from relegation, before leading them to a 12th-placed finish in last season’s Isthmian Premier.

After an up-and-down start to this campaign, The Boro have won their last five games (the latter three in the league, against Swindon Supermarine, Basingstoke Town and Farnborough).

Last Saturday’s victory, 5-0 over Farnborough, has lifted them up to sixth place in the Premier Division South standings, one point outside the play-offs with games in hand on all the teams above them aside from Weymouth.

Baker has switched between four and five at the back this season, and while their defensive record (25 conceded) is nothing special, only Taunton and Salisbury have scored more league goals than them (40, having played two fewer games than the Peacocks and Whites).

Top scorer Ryan Moss has 10 of the 40, two coming against Farnborough, while winger Josh Andrew – signed last month – set up both goals in the win over Basingstoke.
