BURNHAM United Ladies moved up to third in Division 1 of the Somerset County Women’s League on Sunday, thanks to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Portishead Reserves.

Sarah Galley grabbed the only goal of the game, the result moving Burnham above their opponents; this coming Sunday sees them travel to Pen Mill Reserves (ko 2pm).

Burnham United Under-18s, meanwhile, triumphed 4-1 over Tone Youth, to sit joint top of the Somerset U18 League’s South Division.

Cain Smith (2), Louie Jones and Aminul Barik netted the hosts’ goals.

They are without a match this weekend, as Isle of Wedmore U18s have withdrawn from the league.

BURNHAM United had last Saturday off, but they return to action with a tough Somerset County League Division 1 encounter this Saturday.

Third-bottom United host Bridgwater Town Reserves (ko 2.30pm) at Cassis Close, their visitors currently joint top of the division.

County League Division 3 side Burnham United Reserves were beaten 2-0 at home to Draycott last Saturday.

Ninth in the standings, they go to 13th-placed Tunley Athletic this Saturday (ko 2.30pm).

In the Weston-super-Mare & District League, Wedmore found themselves 5-1 down at half time away to St George Easton in Gordano and never recovered, losing 8-2.

Steven Alden scored both for Division 1 strugglers Wedmore, but Jack Aldom (3), Thomas Bell (3), Ewan Mason and Samuel Shorney saw the hosts run away with it.

This coming Saturday Wedmore are away to Sporting Weston (ko 2.30pm).

Wedmore Reserves fared no better in Division 4, losing 6-1 at home to Weston Celtic.

Burnham United B won 4-1 on their travels, as goals from Jamie Merrick, Harry Penfold, Wayne Barrett and Naz Barik saw off Nailsea United C.

This Saturday sees Burnham B go to Wrington Redhill A, Huntspill Crowns host Nailsea United C and Wedmore Reserves entertain AFC Nailsea Reserves (all ko 2.30pm).

Burnham United A won their fourth match in a row, beating Hutton Reserves 5-3 in the Atwell Memorial Shield.

Declan Christie hit three, with Jaden Watts and Kieran McLauchlan also on target.

United A are at home to Sporting Weston Reserves in Division 3 this Saturday.
