IT is derby day tonight (Friday) as North Petherton host Bridgwater & Albion in South West One West (7.30pm).

The always keenly-contested fixture has yet more riding on it this time, as the two sides have been drawn together in the Somerset Cup and have agreed Friday’s result will stand in that competition too.

Albion director of rugby Geoff Sluman said: “A good local derby is good for both clubs and good for rugby in the area.

“We are expecting and encouraging a big crowd so that will be a good experience for all of the players too. I would like to say good luck to all of the players, I hope they all enjoy the occasion.”

It was honours even across the two matches last season, Pethy winning 32-10 at home after Albion had won 15-5 at College Way earlier in the campaign.
