WEST Bower went top of the Division 1 standings in the Uxella Bridgwater & District Sunday League, with a 5-1 win over Spaxton Stags at the weekend.

Greg Turner scored twice, with Sam Anthony, Shane Smith and Tom Kingston also on target for Bower.

They move level on points with Ramblers, and they have a better goal difference by one.

That was the only match in the top flight, and there was only one game in Division 2, too, as leaders North Petherton won a thrilling encounter, 4-3 at mid-table side Puriton.

Lloyd Beacham, Josh Gracie, Scott Harman and Jack Winter netted for the winning side.

Two Dave Hobbs Cup ties took place, with Huntspill Crowns overcoming club-mates Huntspill Crowns BPH 5-1.

AJ Mockridge (2), Dylan Webb and Jamie Hand scored for Crowns, with Ben Fursland replying.

The other match saw Highburn Athletic win 2-1 at Woolavington, to progress to next month’s quarter-finals, where they will face Huntspill Crowns.

IN the Keyline Taunton Sunday League, meanwhile, Tiger Old Boys bounced back from the previous weekend’s 9-0 defeat to Division 1 leaders Bathpool, by beating a struggling Ash Rangers side 10-0.

Carl Jones struck four times, with Chris Taylor not far behind him in bagging a hat-trick.

Jason Stephenson, Lewis Smith and Ryan Weston were also on the scoresheet for Tigers.

Will Pope came in as goalkeeper for the Bridgwater side, and put in a commanding performance.

Tigers face Old Inn up next, ahead of a Somerset FA County Cup tie the following weekend.
