Bridgwater Jupiter 26, Lovells Titans 57

JUPITER took to the court with a positive mindset, with every player giving 100%.

Despite strong centre court and good feeding from Holly Filkins (C) and Amy Portlock (WA), the first quarter ended 13-3 to Titans.

The defence worked tirelessly with Eve Jenner (GK), Emily Bridges (GD), Sally Haysham (WD) standing out.

As a result, they pulled the score back to 10-12.

However, Titans reasserted themselves and went into the final quarter 44-18 up.

Saturn 35, Monmouth 19

SATURN’s game against Monmouth was a game of two halves but they went in at 13-10.

In the second half, more assured passing meant Saturn’s game flowed a lot better and they increased their lead to 23-15.

Excellent shooting by Katy Cheese (GA) and defence from Lisa Lukins (GD) restricted Monmouth and allowed Saturn to coast home.

Venus 30, Priory 44

VENUS made a great start and ended the quarter 9-12 to the home team.

Abbie Newton and Amy Kemmish worked hard to feed to Izzy Keane and Hazel Hucker but mis-timed passes and poor ball handling enabled Priory to make the most of the errors.

A fantastic final effort came to fruition with Venus winning the final quarter and gaining some much-needed points.

Mars 50, Brendon 41

MARS went out striving for a win and, thanks to the fluidity of shooters Becky Kennard (GS) and Izzy Innalls (GA), they led 17-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Brendon stepped up their game and reduced the arrears but, going into the last quarter, the lead was up to nine.

Drives from Chris Shaw (WA) and Amy Kemmish (C) opened up the court allowing Mars to keep their lead strong.

Luna 40, Jesters 18

LUNA continued their winning streak and excellent shooting from Sharon Etheridge and Michaela Hoppins gave them an 11-5 lead.

Great feeding into the circle from Gail Cornish and Beth Coleman doubled their scored by half-time and they entered the final quarter 33-11 up which allowed them to coast home to victory.

Titans Thunder 44, Sydenham Gems 29

GEMS came out fighting for every ball and went 3-1 up but Titans dug deep and finished the quarter 15-9 ahead.

The second quarter saw another fast and effective start but Gems couldn’t hold on to the speed and Titans’ shooting accuracy took them to 23-16.

Gems continued to fight and made it difficult for Titans with strong defence up court.

The final quarter saw Titans extend their lead to 44-29.

Tone 59, Sapphires 37

SAPPHIRES started their match slowly against a flighty Tone side.

Sapphires defended hard with Emily Rossiter (GD) and Sue Bushnell (GK) turning over lots of passes, but they were unable to capitalise on this against a strong defence as the first quarter ended 16-7 to Tone.

The second quarter saw Sapphires make some changes, and great centre court play from Katie Hill (WA), Carly Martin (C) and Mikki Hole (WD) helped to bring the ball down to the attacking circle, with the quarter finishing 33-17.

In the second half Tone came back well and put a lot of pressure on Sapphires, causing them to make errors.

Accurate shooting from Nic Hale (GS) and Tilly Milburn kept Sapphires within half to score a vital point, with the final score 59-37 to Tone.

Harlequins 66, Rubies 21

RUBIES travelled to Midsomer Norton to face Harlequins and started the first quarter strongly with great centre court play from Steph Gibson, Anna Belcher and Jessie Venning enabling shooters Laura Coombes and Shell Jenkins to keep them in contention.

Rubies came out with the same spirit as the first quarter but took a while to settle and Harlequins pulled ahead.

Going into the final quarter Harlequins carried on applying defensive pressure to Rubies’ attackers and the game finished 66-21 to Harelquins.
