Somerset Premier Cup - second round
Wincanton Town 1, Taunton Town 2

TWO goals from Andrew Neal saw a young Taunton Town side come from behind to beat Wincanton Town on Tuesday night, and reach the quarter-finals of the Somerset Premier Cup.

Neal - whose current suspension does not cover the Premier Cup - was one of few first team regulars in the side, with the Peacocks' education partners Bridgwater & Taunton College supplying the bulk of the players.

The youthful side almost went behind on three minutes, as Toby Cole hit the post for the hosts, but the Western League team were ahead in the 15th minute - Brett Cotterill finding the net from range.

Steadily Taunton worked their way back in to the game, and Neal sent two efforts narrowly off target after the half-hour mark.

The Peacocks trailed at half time but were creating more chances now, and two minutes into the second period Craig Veal blazed over after Neal had a shot saved.

Douglas Camilo was the next to have a go, firing over from substitute Liam Gilbert's cross, and then Neal shot wide after a slip-up from Wincanton keeper Liam Norris.

Norris was not so fortunate on 74 minutes, as he made another error and this time Neal was on the spot to equalise.

And the Peacocks were ahead five minutes later, Camilo delivering the free-kick for Neal to head in.

That proved the winner for the visitors, taking their place in the last eight while offering good first team experience to a batch of youngsters.

Next up for Taunton is a home league fixture with Wimborne Town, on Saturday (ko 3pm).
