Division 3
Stockwood Green Reserves 1, Middlezoy Rovers Reserves 2

MIDDLEZOY Rovers Reserves travelled to Stockwood Green on a grey and gloomy day.

The visitors started well, using the width of Jamie Temlett and Daniel Lismore to good effect, with Ryan Brewer and Adam Prescott supporting them.

Zoy were bossing possession and creating half-chances but nothing of merit, while the hosts always looked dangerous on the counter with pace up top.

The breakthrough finally came 15 minutes before the break, when the ball was worked well from Scott Rich’s quick throw out to Prescott, who travelled up to the halfway line and played in Lismore, who put in a low cross for Jamie Temlett to power the ball in at the back post.

Lismore had a chance to extend the lead but he put it over the bar from two yards when it seemed easier to score.

Middlezoy started the second half how they finished the first, and doubled the lead within five minutes of the restart.

A long throw evaded two defenders, allowing Steve Hall to head home from close range.

Stockwood became increasingly frustrated with late tackles and tempers flaring, but Middlezoy stayed calm and stuck to their own gameplan.

The visitors had a couple of chances and if it weren’t for the home keeper pulling off some very good saves the score would have been more comfortable.

With the game becoming a bit of a battle, a booming clearance from Stockwood found its way to the forward, who beat Scott Rich to halve the deficit.

With their tails up, the hosts tried all they could but the steely determination of the Zoy kept them at bay to take another three points on the road.

Man of the match: Matt Lindsay and Michael Haley

Zoy sit fourth in the Division 3 table, but this coming Saturday their attention turns to the Division 2 & 3 Cup, and a trip to Chew Magna (ko 2.30pm).

Middlezoy Rovers’ first team were without a match last weekend, and they are currently 12th in the Premier Division standings after wins for Clutton and Nailsea United.

This Saturday they also have a cup tie, the Premier & Division 1 Cup in their case, which sees them travel to Nailsea United.

This is a repeat of Zoy’s last fixture, which finished 2-2.

The match will kick off at 2.30pm.

Middlezoy Rovers Ladies 2, Callington Town Ladies 2

MIDDLEZOY Rovers Ladies sit fifth in the Premier Division table, after battling back from 2-0 down to draw with Callington Town Ladies on Sunday.

Callington striker Kat Marment scored twice in the first half, and so the hosts found themselves in deep trouble at the break.

But Anusia Rourke pulled one back from the penalty spot, and Zoy piled on the pressure in search for an equaliser.

Eventually Chloe Snook got it, drilling the ball home to ensure a share of the spoils for her side.

Middlezoy are without a fixture this coming weekend; they return to action on Sunday, November 18, at home to Portishead Ladies (ko 2pm).
