Toolstation Western League Premier Division
Shepton Mallet 1, Bridgwater Town 5
JACK Taylor and Harry Horton each netted braces as Bridgwater Town thumped Shepton Mallet and moved back to the top of the Toolstation Western League Premier Division table.
The Robins showed their intent from the outset and, after Charlie White had hit the post, Ian Bellinger fired Town ahead with a fine half-volley on eight minutes.
It was 2-0 just five minutes later when Taylor slotted home, and the Robins comfortably held their advantage until half-time.
Shepton grew into the game after the break and pulled a goal back on 63 minutes, but Taylor made the points safe by slotting home Sam Towler's cross with 15 minutes to play.
Second half substitute Horton then put the icing on the cake with a late double, smashing home from the edge of the box before beating the goalkeeper at his near post in added time.
Town's victory puts them above Willand Rovers on goal difference, though the Robins have played more games than the sides around them.
Bridgwater Town: Jake Viney, Charlie White, Tom Ellis, Josh White, Kurt Robinson, Ian Bellinger (Harry Horton 61), Mark Armstrong, Sam Towler, Jake Llewellyn, Jake Brown, Jack Taylor
