TAUNTON Town travel to Poole Town tomorrow (ko 3pm), aiming to keep themselves up near the top of the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division South standings.

The Peacocks are coming down off cloud nine for this match, having thumped National League South side St Albans City 5-2 in the FA Cup on Wednesday night.

That result earned them £15,000 in FA prize money and a trip to Billericay Town in fourth round qualifying.

Attention now switches back to the league, and a tough-looking fixture against Poole at the Black Gold Stadium (Tatnam Ground) in Dorset.

Taunton's interim manager Rob Dray told the County Gazette: "Mentally those big games can be a little bit draining, there's no doubt about it.

"We can enjoy this one [beating St Albans], but we have to move on to the next one; there's not a lot of time to regroup, but we will."

The Peacocks will be without midfielder Ryan Brett and striker Matt Wright, both of them through suspension, though Wright will be available for Tuesday night’s match at Dorchester Town (ko 7.45pm).

Poole, known as the Dolphins, won their last league game 6-0 against Farnborough – Korrey Henry claiming a hat-trick – and they currently lie eighth in the table, six places and four points behind the Peacocks, albeit with a game in hand.

Dray said of Saturday’s opponents: “They came down from National League South last season, and their squad is predominantly the same.

“There are no easy games and you have got to be at it for 90 minutes in this division, or you get punished.

“Last season there were games where we knew after an hour that we would win; that’s not the case this year.

“Poole are a good side with established players and they are looking to go back up.

“It will be a tricky game, but Keith [Emmerson] played for them for a couple of seasons and that helps us.”

Dray also confirmed that he is looking to add to his squad, with one player being scouted last Saturday.

He added: “Any players coming in have to be better than what we’ve already got, fit into our changing room and fit our budget.”
